Tasting Notes

This wine is interesting and complex as it boasts both fruit and savory flavors. As you swallow a sip, the initial fruity punch transforms as it passes over the tongue to express more earthy and aging notes. Expect flavors of cherry, plum and blackberries, with more subtle notes of vanilla and spice.

The finish is long and smooth, leaving behind a harmony of flavors without much in the way of sharpness or alcohol. The tannins and acidity are noticed, but are in no way overpowering.

Overall Thoughts

This wine is an absolute treat to drink, and in our opinion is one of the best valued bottles on the market for this style and price range. The red fruits, complexity and smoothness all work together to create a wine that is enjoyable on its own, but versatile enough to pair with a wide range of foods.

The fact that the producer has so much information about the vintage available to the public (see above link) just adds to the fun. Though it is not required, I recommend decanting this wine for 30 - 60 minutes to help develop the more subtle flavors.
