Things To Remember

There are a few key points to remember when pairing food and wine. This is especially important when the foods you are consuming are higher in fats, salt, richness and spices.

  • The sweetness and acidity of the wine should always be higher than that of the food.

  • Make sure you match bolder foods with bolder wines. You wouldn't want a wine with more delicate flavors to get lost in the mix.

  • Sparkling and acidic wines can help lighten the feeling of fatty and fried foods.

  • Sweet and off-dry (semi-sweet) wines pair well with (and reduce the effects of) spicy foods.
